What is a Spill Kit?

We always say there are two types: a spill kit and a good spill kit!

A spill kit is designed to give the user the ability to contain and clean-up a hazardous substance spill.  A good spill kit will do that but will also give the user the confidence that the contents are applicable for the substances in question (i.e. won’t react) and will work rapidly when put into action. The contents of a ‘good spill kit’ will always be action-ready because they won’t break down or go off when stored over time.

For a more detailed explanation of Spill Kits read our editorial here.

What are Vehicle Spill Kits?

There are two sizes of kits when it comes to dealing with spills in transit. First up we have our Vehicle Spill Kits, which handle spills up to 20L in size. Then we have the larger Truck Spill Kits, and they’re capable of handling bigger incidents, up to 40L in size.

Vehicle Spill Kits

On-the-road spills can be a real challenge, especially if you are on your own. Specially designed with a single responder in mind, these kits are compact, lightweight and easy to deploy.

Vehicle Spill Kits are available in three types; oil only, universal and aggressive. To find out which type you need, download our polypropylene compatibility guide here.

Oil Only

For vehicles working in and around marine environments, a simple kit can make a fast impact in a hydrocarbon spill situation. Designed to repel water, the absorbents inside will selectively absorb hydrocarbons quickly and efficiently.

  • For oils, fuel and solvents - not water
  • Absorbs up to 20L per kit

Universal

If you transport oils, mild chemicals or water-based liquids, then this kit will be a critical helper in the event of a spill. Packed into a tough, weatherproof carry case and filled with absorbents for covering a wide range of hazardous liquids.

  • For all mild liquids including water based
  • Absorbs up to 20L per kit

Aggressive

When you are transporting harsh chemicals, one of these kits could quickly prevent a small chemical spill from becoming a big problem.  Packed with absorbents specifically designed for responding to spills of strong acids, alkalis and bases.

  • For all liquids including harsh acids
  • Absorbs up to 20L per kit

Truck Spill Kits

When that hydraulic hose bursts or that container you're delivering tips over, you need help - quickly. Larger in capacity yet still very compact, the cylinder - shaped Truck Kits will become your best friend in that sticky situation.

Truck Spill Kits are available in three types; oil only, universal and aggressive. To find out which type you need, download our polypropylene compatibility guide here.

Oil Only

When you’re on the road, a fuel or oil spill from your vehicle is a very real concern and one that needs to be responded to rapidly.  Selectively absorbing hydrocarbons only, it will ignore water making it a valuable asset if you need to clean spills from a water way.

  • For oils, fuel and solvents - not water
  • Absorbs up to 40L per kit

Universal

This kit is a great responder for larger transport vehicles, carrying a variety of liquids, including those that are water-based.  Packed into a tough, weather-proof case, this kit will absorb up to 40 litres in the event of a spill, quickly and with minimal hassle.

  • For all mild liquids including water based
  • Absorbs up to 40L per kit

Aggressive

If your truck is carrying harsh chemicals, then it’s highly likely that you will need this kit in the event of a spill incident.  Packed with tough, chemical resistant absorbents, the kit will have you in control of the spill, rather than the other way around.

  • For all liquids including harsh acids
  • Absorbs up to 40L per kit

Spill Kit Storage Box

An excellent option for securely storing a spill response kit externally on your vehicle, this tough storage box is easy to mount and is completely weatherproof.

Comes in grey and supplied with an anti-static strap and a spill kit label.

Are there other types of Spill Kits?

Yes, there are both different types and different sizes of spill kits. This is due to the variety of different liquids, the amount stored in each situation, and the level of risk for that particular area or location.
