Safety Cans – An Overview

Why do I need a Safety Container?
Almost every industrial site has the need to use flammable liquids at some point, whether its regularly or irregularly, and whether it’s fuel, solvents, or another Class 3 liquid. While these liquids are common, it’s important to be aware of the dangers they may present. To put this in context, a litre of vaporized petrol can explode with the same force as several sticks of dynamite!
Safety containers protect you and your colleagues by minimising the risk of accidents and fire, when handling flammable liquids.
How do they create a reliable level of protection?
Flammable vapours, particularly in volatile environments, are extremely susceptible to fire and explosion. Having safety containers in place will reduce that risk by limiting the amount of vapour that escapes into the air, when storing and pouring liquids that emit these vapours.
What are the different types of Safety Cans available?
We have 3 different styles of safety containers.
- Steel Safety Cans
- Oily Waste Containers
- Plunger Cans
What are Flammable Safety Cans?
These are round steel containers that feature a self-closing, 100% leakproof lid that – unlike most standard containers – prevents vapours from escaping. They also have a stainless steel flame arrestor that dissipates heat to stop flashback ignition.
They are available in 2 sizes, a 4L and a 19L.
What are Oily Waste Cans?
Think of them like a steel waste disposal bin but dedicated to the safe disposal of oil and solvent soaked rags. The foot-operated, self-closing lid limits the available oxygen and isolates the contents from ignition sources and the risk of spontaneous combustion.
We have two sizes of these – a 23L and a 38L.
What are Flammable Plunger Cans?
Plunger Cans are pretty ingenious, allowing you to dispense flammable liquids and solvents safely, without waste, and unnecessary exposure to ignition sources. The pump base design draws liquid up into the tray for moistening cleaning cloths, then draws the unused portion immediately back into the safety of the can
We have two sizes of these – a 1L and 2L.
Where are Flammable Liquids most likely to be found?
Safety containers will undoubtably lower the risk profile in any business storing and dispensing flammable liquids.
This includes industries such as automotive workshops, mobile mechanics, engineers, science labs, car grooming, and civil construction – to name but a few!
What can I store in Safety Cans?
Safety containers are made from a high grade, powder-coated steel, and are suitable for storing almost all Class 3 flammable liquids.
Are there any design requirements?
Our range of safety containers are manufactured in the USA and meet international approvals such as FM Approvals, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the TUV Technical Inspection Association.
